Like most amazing music, the sound coming out of East Oakland right now is best described as adolescents shouting over really fucking loud drums and bass, and little else. Obviously, the omnipresent strippers and scrapers remain intact. If a song is of the utmost quality, it is said to “slap.” They just get bummed when you call it “hyphy.”
