Thanks Reg. I never got an Oscar, Golden Globe, or a BAFTA award, but the fact that I can look back on my life and know that I was an influence on Reggie Watts and David Cross, well, it just makes me feel like I’ve done something with my life. I really do hope that future generations may one day discover my work. These last twenty years of obscurity and poverty, living in this retirement community have been awfully unfunny and unlike those wondrous years spent on the fringes of the British comedy world. Eric Idle and I used to shoot the muffet all the time, and boy could I get into some stories about that bloke. I was even asked to join Monty Python but at the time I had this other thing going called “Where’s Yiddly?” It was about a three episode absurdist-theatre-sitcom show that was really brilliant but was taken off when the BBC’s management decided to double the funding for “Top of The Pops.” I’m not bitter, we had our failings, namely too much female comedy, which wasn’t as palatable at the time as it is now. If you look it up on You Tube you should be able to find a few episodes, they’re real gems I think. I just hope they continue to have an influence, in some matter, on the comedians of the future. My grandson wanted to be a painter, what a twat, eh? Oh well who can blame him? Over and out.
