The Weapons are opening for Suicide tonight which is like Rancid opening for The Clash if nobody had heard of either band. Their new album is fucking amazing and “Fuck What You Like” is our favorite track on it.

ARE weapons sucks. I know all the “cool kids” (not the black nerdy rappers) are friends with the band, but they suck. There music is awful. That’s why they still haven’t done shit even though every hipster wannabe has been blowing them for like 10 years. ARE weapons guys, stop making music and start a t shirt company or something.

  3. JUST A NORMAL GUY (THE ORIGINAL) says:

I THOUGHT IT WAS SO FUNNY WHEN “BRAIN” SLAMMED CHRISTINA BILLOTTE INTO A WALL HE REALLY TOOK A COURAGEOUS STAND THAT NIGHT. THESE GUYS HAVE WORKED SO HARD FOR EVERYTHING THEY HAVE AND ARE A GREAT EXAMPLE OF THE MERITOCRACY OF THE AMERICAN CAPITALIST SYSTEM HARD WORKERS!!!

    they sucked after thomas left.

  7. Cap'n Glitterfuzz says:

The individuality is awe-inspiring. With such compelling lyrics it’s only a matter of time before society ceases to interfere with their way of life.

  8. pingpong says:

    i liked the skeletons dancing

  9. myfuck says:

ive never heard a.r.e weapons (because im a fucking snob and if i hear about them from shitty places i wont check them out) but i will now because street carnage endorses.

also ‘Suicide’…..?????? HOLY MOTHER FUCKING FUCK i didnt know they were still around.

jesus christ, what i wouldnt give to be either not in australia , or dead, or living somewhere where good things happen

  10. bloodyknows says:

i bought an a.r.e weapons cd back in the day cause vice included them on a list of something like “cool shit from a to z” and they were part of the a entry. i guess that’s pretty pathetic, but fuck, their music is really not good at all.

  11. ptro says:

thomas bullock was a.r.e. weapons. i think that them exploring club rap, teenage thrash, and general americana in the ensuing years has been fairly intelligent and widely misunderstood (really), if not always successful, but that first wave still gets my goat. they had a nicely curated sound/equipment, immaculate vocals, and ‘be nice’ is one of the prettiest, sleaziest songs of all time.

recall that old ‘feature’ that the blow-up did, before they ‘went print’, during that period when today’s 20-year-olds were about 13…in an era of electroclash, dudes with haircuts and bad sneakers, i guess some things from the ’00 – ’03 malaise were kind of neat.

  12. roller says:

“don’t be scared” is a classic

but this song sounds kinda like someone doing a transplants song at karaoke

which is not a good look

  13. Mk Btt says:

Yeah, so I guess the initial Weapons hype-hate still exists. Shame. Any thread onlookers don’t trust the villainous haters. A.R.E. are the great overlooked band of the 2000s. Too those who have made their decision perhaps you should evaluate your sense of humor or lack there of.

p.s. Seek out the Peel Session. Was Thomas Bullock on the Peels?
