Quite recently I was asked by a one Nick Diamonds to do a video for his band “Islands.” Apparently he had seen my feature releases under the TV CARNAGE moniker and regaled me with stories of how the collection had “saved his life” and how the DVDs had become a beckon of hope for his creative endeavors.
Next thing I knew he was in my office overlooking Central Park. A cassette in his artistic digits. He plopped it into my Harm Kard (no homo) and I was immediately intrigued. The song “No You Don’t” was brilliant but frankly I stopped listening half way through, I was too busy fixating on this human before me. Nick Diamonds, with his diamond-studded caped. Nick Diamonds, talented, handsome, blathering on and on; pouring out his heart and soul right onto my glass-topped desk (which rests atop these two fantastic faux Corinthian pillars.) Jesus.
“Ok kid. You want a video, you got one.” I walked over to my floor to ceiling window, still overlooking Central Park. That’s where I do my best thinking.
“Shit” I said to me. I knew whom to call. Mikey. Michael Cera. He owed me one or a dozen (I had lost count at that point) and I was willing to cash one in for this blubbering tear stained artist flooding my desk in saline.
I picked up the phone. I sped dialed. M.C. answered. I told him about the song and this kid named Nick Diamonds. He told me about a word named “No”
“FUCK” I screamed to me.
So, not to be thwarted by snooty H-Wood types, we loaded up the van and went looking for the perfect Michael Cera look-alike. You know what? We found him, God bless, in Hudson New York. A young, Brett La Favier was mincing down Allen St. We approached him explained the situation and he smiled and simply said “Fuck off”.
So we made the video with a robot. Nick Diamonds is a genus songwriter, showman and quite an electrical robotic engineer man.
The rest, my friends is ourstory.
STREET CARNAGE/TV CARNAGE and ISLANDS is proud to present the video for “No You Don’t” starring Nick Diamonds and an android that looks quite a bit like Michael Cera. Directed by Pinky Carnage.

i had a bad dream in which Michael Cera harassed me. never liked the boy since.
yes!
enough with Cera and the nervous neurotic shtick, unless that’s who he actually is, which would be unfortunate .
TIGER!
i like nick diamonds though… even though we haven’t met.
awesome,awesome, awesome
THAT WAS FUN!
[...] Yesterday Michael Cera shocked fans everywhere by posing with some of the lesser known cast members of Jersey Shore with slices of pizza as part of MTV’s promotion fro his new film, Youth In Revolt. Today Cera lets us all know he was in on the joke, Between Two Ferns-style, by starring in a music video for the band The Islands (you might know them better as The Unicorns), directed by TV Carnage’s Derrick Beckles. [...]
im not really into this but i like the idea of michael cera as a recurring character in posts.
beautiful weirdoes
during one of my rants about the talentless shia “i like me why act” labooof, my buddy mentioned that michael cera was basically the indie version of the shiaster. with the exception of AD, i think he’s right
nick island from diamonds! nick island from diamonds! nick island from diamonds! nick island from diamonds! nick island from diamonds! nick island from diamonds! nick island from diamonds! nick island from diamonds! nick island from diamonds! nick island from diamonds! nick island from diamonds!
you guys jock this dude! without this site nick island diamond would have no audience.

great video though, d. eric. i like how you’re doing different things with the music videos from your usual directing style with tv carnage (even though new violence is still your best)
Ahhhh Dereleckd… Wonderful work.
I’d recognize that trippy-ass jacket anywhere.
this turned out great, congrats

horrible music, horrible video production, horrible, just horrible.
I guess calling it “indie” is their excuse for sucking?

how many people who hate the amazing shit these (street carnage)guys do, yet return to try to post disses while street carnage keeps getting better. Almost like they have a war chest that affords them the petulant attempts at sabotage.
Don’t fall for it. You guys have weathered the fuckhead storm.
Love the fucking video. And it proves “indie” can still be fucking awesome.
nice try “valley bob”

Wait, was that a sitar?
Mikey Cera has a cute face, but it’s still sad looking, yet oddly adorable?
It’s even awkward to describe.
