Hey idiots,
a hipster is any twenty-something who isn’t a frat-boy jock or a geek. It’s like hippies in the 60′s; Anyone in the 60′s who did drugs or listened to any remotely underground bands was considered a hippie. Most kids drink PBR because it’s cheap and wear lacoste because they have good taste. Boring articles like these avoid one obvious question: What’s worse, a fucking nature photographer wearing sandals (or crocs), cargo shorts, and douchey sport shades, or some “hipster” wearing wayfarers and a polo shirt? If we’re going to judge people based on appearances let’s admit that norms wear clothes far worse than what most hipsters come up with: sweat/trackpants, sandals, crocs, shorts, cargo everything, Affliction (I just puked out a bunch of patterns on to a shirt) shirts, distressed denim, wraparound sunglasses, uggs, and ugly color schemes. You can double or triple everything I just listed due to the endless retarded “sport” variations norms come up with every month.

to everyone complaining about hipsters: you sound like you’re going to start complaining about electroclash next. How about you complain about how “un-punk” Sum 41 are? Maybe you want to tell me how Limp Bizkit are “just corporate puppets.”

to the writer: trustafarians are rich kids with dreadlocks, plus you might want to research what a trust fund is before you throw the word around.

ps I’m glad this article never mentioned “ironic t-shirts,” that phrase was getting really tired.

pps I’m sorry the correct response to all of this whining about hipsters is “who cares?”

When ever I use the word hipster I fell there is a twinge of jealousy in my attitued towards the person I am calling hipster. Just to add my two cents -

A hipster is anyone who is overly concerned with being cool.

Anyone who makes me feel less status quo cool than they are, is a hipster.

I am a hipster to anyone that I make feel less cool.

I’m sorry, I’ve held it in to now, but this shit burns me up.

“asymmetrical haircut” – almost everybody has an asymmetrical haircut. my dad has an asymmetrical haircut. he takes the slightly longer portion of his hair on the left side of his head and combs it rightward, and that means he’s a hipster? what about audie murphy, that guy’s a hipster too? just say what you really mean, a FAGGY haircut.

“trucker hat” – i know, i’m the gay one for complaining about this, but it’s 200fucking8. even shitty von dutch people gave up those hats like five years ago. you sound like someone’s closeted hecher cousin who still has a chip on his shoulder over disco when you bring this shit up. it is time to move on.
