The person in the song Welcome to the Whole Week was not proud of being on the dole or welfare as you put. It was a depiction of how many people ended up without the prospect of a job due to enforced unemployment. I find it hard to fathom how anyone could fail to understand where the premise of the song. SLF are an excellent group and the Now Then album has always been underrated.

Stiff Little Fingers were bummed skinheads like them so they swung the pendulum into PC town and bummed everybody out. I saw them live in London once and they did a cover of “White Lines.” The Oi boys were not impressed. Nor were the actual fans because it sucked.
