At first I thought he was shitting me, spouting his regular drunk nonsense, but he quickly proved me wrong when he showed me the news report. Here it is:
The police are saying that according to eye witnesses (who? there were only two of them in the cab), Kelsey was involved in a “heated exchange” with the taxi driver just moments before the crash, and that, as paramedics were treating him, he brazenly made for a getaway in the wrecked taxi cab. The judge has subsequently denied him bail and he is to this day lingering in a Hong Kong jail cell. I’m sure you’ve all seen a little film called The Story of Ricky Oh, so you know the jails in Hong Kong are no joke.
Now Kelsey’s father, who resides in in Hong Kong, has started a site in support of his incarcerated son (who was in Hong Kong visiting his father and doing volunteer work with disadvantaged and disabled children), issuing an explanation of the events and condolences for the departed taxi driver, as well as asking for donations for his son’s forthcoming legal battle.
On numerous re-watchings of the news clip, I’m inclined to attest to his innocence.
The last I remember of Kelsey was seeing him years ago in a Barnes & Nobles, with big Cheap Trick hair, a leather jacket, a huge smile, and a girl giggling on either arm as he spoke in an accent from the land down under. Now all I can see when I think of Kelsey is a rugby hooligan with a shaved head in a heap of yellow devil trouble.

Many people such as myself with no connection will feel sympathy enough to click to the site and then with the info about his academic and social background really want to help. I’m an aussie, I just want to say GOOD. if he’s in Gaol, chances are he deserves to be. Free him just because he is in a foriegn land? fuck him. Footage of him running away from the scene, jumping on another cab, driving down the road the wrong way and ran into a SECOND taxi was all over the evening news. He deserves to get at least 20 years. BTW, he got convicted yesterday on all counts of manslaughter, grand larceny, DUI, and dangerous driving. Anyone who is sympathetic towards Kelsey (hereinreferred to as “the Fool”) is obviously an uneducated self-fish human being. He got drunk on the date of the accident and decided to have fun by over taking the steering wheel of a taxi (failing to exercise reasonable judgment and to have any regard for safety of other road users) which led to the death of an innocent person. Place yourself in the position of the Deceased’s estate and tell me how you would feel if one of your beloved family members or friend was wrongfully killed by this fool, Kelsey. There is simply no justification for not imposing a heavy sentence on the Fool. The grounds for his mitigation is absoluately ridiculous. 4 yrs imprisonment is too lenient in my book and I hope God, on the other end, do the justice and inflict upon the Fool with a severse punishment.
