Not only was this footage incredibly amusing, but it got the cyclist off the hook. He was about to pinned with aggravated assault AGAINST the officer along with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. I’ve been in situations myself witnessing abuses in law enforcement just that nobody had a camera handy to document it.
I feel compelled to point out that tommy gun at 5:20pm ain’t me – I LOVED the cross body block from that cop. that critical mass shit was cool for a minute but keep it on the wills bridge and in brooklyn – you do that shit through times square you deserve to get fucked up.

As a guy who bikes to work, but goes to town in his gf’s car to get whatever, I’d like to say that critical mass has become a retarded travesty, wherever you live. Know why I bike to work? B/c I no longer own a car. I can’t afford that shit as of, like, two years ago. So I absolutely hate it when road cocks(bike weenies) give the image of cyclists as vehicle-law flaunting queefs. Any good(somewhat experienced) cyclist is always aware of the vehicles around him and the potential danger in front of/behind him. I can’t say that I’ll always make complete stops at a stop sign or wait til a light turns green at an empty intersection, but I have etiquette and that’s basically what traffic laws are about – and I don’t need to ring my non-existent bell about that.
Having said that, the cop is a dick, but he’s shoving what we’re all thinking.
I try to stay clear of events where cops could think I’m any degree of anarchist, faggot, or hippy.

critical mass is dumb but saying someone deserves to get hit for riding a bike is like saying pedestrian streets should have bulldozers plowed through them. To the drivers out there who think a corolla makes them all bad, step to a full time messenger and see what happens. The combination of stress induced anger and over exercise results in a person that your soft ass probably don’t wanna deal with (physically).

I’ve been riding bikes in NYC for years, never gone to a critical mass because I don’t care for those Park Slope soft-left yuppies but let me tell ya, it’s tough out there. We have to deal with a lot of shit. I’ve been hit by cars several times, and a couple times by pedestrians that jumped into the streets without looking, and yeah, I’m kind of ideological and a bit militant about bike riding and parts of the culture that surround it. I don’t believe that the world can be saved, but I do believe in abstaining from certain practices that are socially irresponsible. I also believe that anyone in NYC who drives a car is a selfish, gluttanous asshole. I also wish death or injury upon people who defend thier gluttony and greed, and in more than just a “laugh at youtube video” type of way.
